Join the Pitt CEC in Homewood & the Pitt SHRS Wellness Pavilion for FREE virtual workshops that will help prepare participants to address and prevent the traumatic impact of adversities in childhood.
Open to caregivers, community residents, neighborhood schools, community organizations, and anyone who works with youth!
April 5, 2021 – Trauma 101: An Overview of Trauma-Informed
Research shows that 67% of the population has experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience. These trauma-based adversities are predictive of many toxic physical, mental, and social outcomes throughout a person’s lifetime. As a society , we need to be better informed and prepared to prevent and address the traumatic impact of childhood adversities.
In this multi-media, interactive workshop, participants will work together to build a powerful image that helps them appreciate the complex nature of trauma and its aftermath.
April 12, 2021- Trauma 102: Basic Skills of Trauma-Informed Care
This workshop will build on the information discussed in the first training session. Participants will be provided with opportunities to implement and practice the following skills :
- Dr. Bruce Perry’s 3 Rs
- Developing Personal Safety Plans
- Trauma-sensitive communication
- Intentional Breathing
- Understanding the Definitions of Epigenetics and Trans-generational Legacies
