Community Engaged Leadership

During the day students at PPS Homewood Faison and Lincoln, receive intentional tutoring under the direct supervision of PA Certified Educators. The classroom Educator ensures that all tutoring strategies align to the ELA and Math curriculum used by PPS.

Saturday tutoring and enrichment is offered for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders at Pitt’s Community Engagement Center in Homewood. Students engage with reading and math learning through projects, games, and activities Pitt tutors are intentional in lesson planning based on PA Standards and individual student goals.
Enrichment activities are offered by various Pitt departments as well as Homewood and commUNITY providers.

Two session options: morning or afternoon. Lunch is provided and transportation within a 3-mile radius is offered. Contact Branden.Ballard@pitt.edu with questions!

No, students need to be enrolled in one of two Saturday sessions: morning or afternoon

What are the start and end dates?

Tentative Start Date: August 29, 2020 Tentative End Date: November 21, 2020.

Do students need to attend every Saturday?

We highly recommend that students participate each Saturday to ensure the greatest experience. All Saturday learning activities are play-based with exciting enrichment activities to choose from. Plus, students can earn prizes and field trips by having great attendance.

What does participation in PittEnrich cost?

The tutoring program, lunch, transportation, enrichment activities, prizes, and family fun nights are free of charge.

Do parents need to stay with their child at the CEC on Saturday?

No, tutors and Community Engagement Center staff will be present to supervise students enrolled in the program. However, parents or guardians may need to support their child during online programming.

Can a child’s brothers and sisters also attend Saturday programming?

Saturday programming is for 1st through 3rd graders and open to those who enroll.
