Hill District: STEAM and Digital Equity

Another offering in the Gismondi Neighborhood Education Program is STEAM Saturdays and Summer Camps, a collection of educational programs delivered by Pitt students and offered to students in grades 3 through 8 at the Community Engagement Center (CEC) in the Hill District.

The programs aim to increase confidence, problem-solving skills, technology skills, and interest in STEAM careers through engaging lessons and hands-on experiences. In addition to the CEC in the Hill District, STEAM Saturdays take place in the Oak Hill and Bedford Dwellings housing communities.

STEAM in Action

With programs ranging from coding to biology, engineering and more, students who participate in STEAM Saturdays and STEAM Summer Camps at the CEC in the Hill District can explore their interests and gain a passion for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

STEAM Saturdays are offered each fall and spring during the academic year. STEAM programming and Summer Camps are offered each summer.

Beyond STEAM Saturdays and Summer Camps, in-school tutoring is offered in Hill District-serving elementary classrooms during the week.
