In an effort to reach Pittsburgh students earlier and support them in earning their degrees, the Pittsburgh Public School (PPS) district, Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), and University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) have partnered and launched the Pittsburgh Admissions Collaboration (PAC). The goal of PAC is to provide a pathway from PPS schools to CCAC and then to Pitt. The program is designed to increase matriculation, retention, and degree attainment. PAC also intends to increase access to higher education, while also keeping affordability at the forefront, through incorporating efforts toward Promise eligibility for all participants. 9th-12th grade students enrolled at Westinghouse High School, Milliones University Prep, Allderdice and Sci-Tech are eligible to participate in the PAC program.
For the 2021-2022 school year, PAC students will be visiting the Pitt campus twice monthly to participate in workshops. Each meeting engages students on a topic relevant to preparing for post-secondary education, including:
- Financial Aid and Financial Wellness
- The College Application and Selection Process
- Majors and Careers Exploration
- College Life
In addition to our bi-weekly sessions, there are several benefits for participating in the PAC program for students who commit to the pathway program including; admission to the University of Pittsburgh campus of the student’s choice, books covered for 4 years of undergraduate school, mentorship and continuous support for students from high school to degree attainment.
