This 5-year violence prevention project collaborates with Allegheny County Department of Human Services, funded by SAMHSA and the CDC. The project is being implemented in 10 communities and has three phases: (1) Organizing and Mobilizing the community; (2) a Training Program to build collective efficacy among 30 youth and adult residents; and (3) a Community-Based Prevention Project participants work on after the training. RECAST is guided by a county-wide steering committee and Community Advisory Boards in each community that include a CBO partner and residents who serve as community facilitators.
